Queensland now has three players in the Australian Schoolboys Under 15 team touring the United Arab Emirates later this year after batsman Jack Beath was called up yesterday. The left-hander from Valley was an unlucky omission in the first instance, having scored more than 40 in four of Queensland's five games at the national under 15 schoolboys titles in Hobart in February-March. He joins Mossman paceman David Coulthard and all-rounder Patrick Dooley in the schoolboys squad. Left-armer Coulthard was one of the leading wicket-takers at the national titles, while Dooley opened the batting and took wickets with his left-arm orthodox spin. The national under 15 side has toured the West Indies in recent years, but will play in Dubai this time around. Beath's call-up caps a stunning season for Queensland Cricket at representative level, with the State's underage teams all performing strongly and the XXXX GOLD Bulls winning the Bupa Sheffield Shield. |
