| HONOUR FOR FORMER DIRECTOR |
Former QC Board member Kerren Smith has been honoured for his contributions to cricket and the business community by Rotary International. Smith, who served a six-year term on the Queensland Cricket Board of Directors from 2002-2003 while based in Gympie, was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship. Named after the founder of Rotary in 1905 Paul Harris, the fellowships are decided by Rotary International and were presented by Past District Governor Walter Buchanan. Smith’s award was made in recognition of his service as a president of Gympie Junior Cricket, Wide Bay and Queensland Junior Cricket, and for his role as a Director of QC and alternate Director of Cricket Australia. Smith remains heavily involved in cricket and at the same time has been Chairman of the Board of the Australian Industrial and Engineering Manufacturing Co-Operative since 2003. He has also been Chairman of Wide Bay Institute of TAFE Council since 2007 and since 2009 has been a Member of the formation committee for Regional TAFE Institutes, responsible for one statutory authority with a revenue of $250 million and staff in excess of 2000. |
