ANDREW SYMONDS

  • Blasted 163 against SA in Adelaide and finished with an average of 63.4 with two more fifties in his three Pura Cup games for the Bulls in 2005-06.
  • Spent much of 2005-2006 with the national sides, compiling eight Tests and 22 One Day Internationals, including match figures of 5-56 and a brutal 72 off 59 balls against South Africa in the Boxing Day Test.
  • Underwent minor wrist surgery in May, 2006
  • Was a star of the ODI scene again after winning Australian one-day player of the year in 2004-05.
  • Produced the highest score by an Australian at a World Cup with 143 not out from 125 balls against Pakistan in 2003.
  • Also scored 91 not out against Sri Lanka in the Cup semi-final.
  • Holds the world record for the most sixes in a first class innings (16) and in a match (20) – both records coming in his score of 254 not out for Gloucestershire in 1995.
  • Away from cricket he enjoys fishing and hunting feral pigs and lists his favourite magazine as “Bacon Busters”.
