HOT-SHOTS BOLT INTO KFC T20 CHALLENGE
Huge hits, high speeds and enormous rewards were the crux of the inaugural KFC T20 Challenge in 2011-12.
The inaugural KFC T20 Challenge was played throughout October 2011 and gave players from around the State the opportunity to grab a place on the Brisbane Heat playing roster. The top two teams, the Burners and Blaze, clashed in the grand final at the Gabba on Tuesday 20 December in the curtain-raiser to the Brisbane Heat-Melbourne Stars game.
The KFC T20 Challenge featured four colourful newly-formed teams in a round-robin series from which four players were identified to represent the Queensland Academy of Sport in the national Second XI T20 competition in late November.
Two of those - Matthew Gale and Steve Paulsen - were awarded Heat contracts at the completion of the national competition.
It was the chance of a lifetime for those two players, and their strong displays in the KFC T20 Challenge were critical.
Entry was free to all games, with the club canteen open at each of the suburban venues.
All scores are available though mycricket with video packages, match reports and other stories below.
