CRICKET AUSTRALIA CUP
The Cricket Australia Cup is contested by teams from Queensland, under the QAS banner, NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, the ACT, South Australia and Western Australia. Each team is permitted to select five players over the age of 23, with the remainder to be Under-23 players, as determined by Cricket Australia.
Queensland Cricket elects to field under a team under the 'Queensland Academy of Sport' banner, coached by Trevor Barsby.
The QAS cricket program has been in place since 1993 and has developed Queensland and Australian players, including Andrew Symonds, Shane Watson, James Hopes, Jimmy Maher and Martin Love, plus Australian women's players Julia Price and Kirsten Pike.
QAS-branded teams play each year in the Institute Challenge series, the Cricket Australia 2nd XI Cup for men and women, the annual Colts match (U23) against NSW, plus matches against Queensland Country and the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander XI.
